You simply cannot visit Bournemouth without going to see the famous Bournemouth Pier. Steeped in history, Bournemouth Pier has been there since 1861. Built at an original cost of only £2600 which was a lot of money back in the 1800s, the Pier was officially opened by the Lord Mayor of London.

Apart from the Bournemouth Beach Pier being closed for 2 years in 2011, this iconic structure has gone from strength to strength.

Today the Bournemouth Beach Pier is a hive of activity. Not only did it win a competition for the most instagrammable place in the UK, but it’s also host to a variety of famous events and shows, and also includes the famous Bournemouth Zip Wire installed in 2013.
What to do on Bournemouth Pier?
On Bournemouth Pier, you will find an Amusements Arcade a Family Activity Centre, a Zip Wire, and a restaurant. There is also a souvenir shop at the entrance where you can buy tickets for the Bournemouth Pier shows and other events.
How long is the Pier?
Bournemouth Beach Pier is 1,000ft long. It wasn’t always this length, it was extended over the years during the 4 different stages of re-builds.

The Amusement Arcade on Bournemouth Beach Pier
At the entrance of Bournemouth Pier, you will find the Pier Amusement Arcade. Created as a family entertainment centre. Full of the most up-to-date games with great prizes. The Family amusement centre has been created with families in mind with a great family, friendly atmosphere. There is a wide range of family-orientated games for everyone to take part in and enjoy. As well as the most up-to-date games for the avid gamer, there is also a really good pinball area.

Rock Reef
The incredible Rock Reef on Bournemouth Pier involves 25 different ‘Clip ’n’ Climb’ climbing walls, an aerial obstacle course and 65m of pier caves plus a terrifying vertical drop slide, a leap of faith jumping challenge and a cafe.

Bournemouth Beach Pier is open 7 days a week, every day from 9 am to approximately 11 pm
How much does it cost to go on Bournemouth Beach Pier?
Bournemouth Pier is free in the winter months from October 31st onwards. The Pier is free all year round for disabled people and their carers, it’s also free for under 5s. There is a small fee to go on the Pier during the summer months.
Is Bournemouth Pier dog friendly?

Can you jump off of Bournemouth Pier?
It would be extremely dangerous to jump off Bournemouth Pier. There have been many significant emergencies in the past when people have done this and had to be rushed to the hospital. Because of this, it is now prohibited and illegal for anyone to jump off Bournemouth Pier.
Can you fish on Bournemouth Pier?
You can fish on Bournemouth Pier all year round. You’ll have to pay the Bournemouth Pier’s usual entrance fee on arrival.
In the Summer you can expect to catch: Bass, Mullet, Mackerel, Garfish, Gurnard, Bream, Scad, Ray, Dogfish, Soles and Flounders.
In the Winter you can expect to catch: Place, Codling and Whiting
