You have probably heard by now that the Mudeford Beach Huts are the most expensive beach huts in the world and definitely the most expensive in the UK.
With a high price tag which seems to be increasing year on year.
Situated on the famous Mudeford Spit in Christchurch Dorset next to Mudeford Quay, Hengistbury Head beach, and Avon beach. Every year thousands of people travel from all over the UK and Europe to hire a beach hut here.
They can only be reached by either walking from Hengistbury Head for 20 minutes, reachable by the land train (which can be taken from Hengistbury Head), or by the ferry (which can be taken from Mudeford Quay).
The Mudeford Beach Huts are in a secluded spot and it’s very private and feels almost as though you are on your own little island.

Beach huts in Mudeford rarely come up for sale, there’s usually one or two a year if you are lucky. Most of the beach huts are sold privately but there are also occasions when they are sold via an Estate Agent.
The good thing about Mudeford Beach Huts is you don’t need to stay in a hotel or to book a hotel because with these beach huts you can sleep over night in them.

If you are really interested in buying a beach hut at Mudeford, the best idea is to go there and speak to the current owners and let them know that if they decide to sell then you are interested in buying.
This is the usual way beach huts in this location are sold it seems. Rather than the owners having to be put in the newspaper, they prefer to do it privately.

How Much is a Beach Hut in Mudeford?
The price seems to keep going up, but as of 2022 there is currently a beach hut for sale there for 575k. What’s crazy about this is this beach hut doesn’t even face the sea. So you can imagine how much the Mudeford Beach Huts that face the sea cost!
It’s not really the hut you are paying for although obviously, that’s part of the package. it’s more the place and the location the beach hut is built on. The land isn’t for sale as this is owned by Christchurch and Bournemouth Council.
Another beach hut on Mudeford Sandbank sold recently for the same price. Every year the asking price seems to be going up and up.

Where is Mudeford Spit?
Mudeford Spit is located in Mudeford, Christchurch in Dorset. A beautiful, upmarket seaside town that also has the beaches of Highcliffe beach, Avon Beach, Highcliffe Castle Beach, and Hengistbury Head Beach.
Mudeford Spit can be found off of Mudeford Quay and in close proximity to Hengistbury Head.
Can you Sleep Over Night in Mudeford Beach Huts?
The great thing about these beach huts is you can sleep in them so there is no need to book a hotel. Unlike the Bournemouth Beach Huts which only allow them to be rented out per day. At Mudeford beach, you can actually sleep in them and spend your whole holiday on the beach.
These were the only beach huts in the area you could sleep in until Bournemouth built the Bournemouth Beach Lodges which are now available to rent all year round.

A lot of the Mudeford Beach Huts are privately owned. They come up for sale very rarely and when they do come up for sale they have a hefty price tag to be able to buy one.
The rest, around three quarters are owned by Christchurch Council.

Yes, it’s lovely to swim at Mudeford Sandbank. Every year people come from all over the UK to visit this remarkable beach.
Many people come here for a day of watersports.
Why are Mudeford Beach Huts so Expensive?
Mudeford Beach Huts are like being on your own private island. The only way to reach them is with a ferry from Mudeford Quay or from a land train. They are very private and rather isolated.
The beach huts here also let you sleep over night in them, rather than just being able to rent them for the day.
Apart from this Mudeford Sandbank is an incredibly beautiful location being in a very affluent area of Christchurch, Dorset. Near to Bournemouth and next to Hengistbury Head.
How Many Beach Buts are on Mudeford Spit?
There are currently 350 beach huts on Mudeford Sandbank. The majority of these are owned by the Christchurch Council, but there are quite a few also owned privately and these are the beach huts that come up for sale.
Do the Beach Huts at Mudeford have toilets?
No, the beach huts do not have toilets. However, there are public toilets available on site. There is no running water in the Mudeford Beach Huts due to their remote location. There is also no electricity here.
Mudeford Beach Hut Cafe
There is a very nice cafe on the Mudeford Spit called the Black Horse. You can’t miss it since the whole building is a black wooden constructed building. Serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, coffee, and tea throughout the day.
Avon Beach Huts, Mudeford
Alternatively, if you didn’t want to pay the Mudeford Spit Beach Hut prices then you could look at buying a beach hut on the beach which leads on from Mudeford Beach which is called Avon Beach. This beach doesn’t require a land train or a ferry to get to it.

All you need to do is drive to Mudeford Quay and park up there in the car park. The prices here are not cheap either. They are also astronomically expensive since they are still in Mudeford and in Christchurch which is a very desirable town.
They are not as expensive as the Mudeford Spit Beach Huts though. This could have something to do with not being able to sleep over night in them. They are day beach huts only.
Are Dogs Allowed in Mudeford Beach Huts?
Usually yes, but of course, it’s up to the owner of the hut. But dogs are allowed on Mudeford Spit and it’s an excellent place for a dog to have a holiday. Long stretches of golden sand to run on and some excellent walks.
Dogs are also allowed on the land train you can use to get there as well as the ferry from Mudeford Quay.
